A message from Tracey Parish who is a dedicated volunteer of the SPA in Limoges:

The SPA volunteers would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Rainbow for looking after us and our doggies so well.  Bringing the dogs to the shop has been a huge success with over 20 adoptions since we started coming in the summer of 2015.

Even those who weren't lucky enough to be adopted on they day still had the opportunity to spend some time away from the refuge and we in turn got to know their individual personalities so much better.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  See you again in February xx
Rainbow can no longer accept private adverts for cats or dogs without microchip numbers. Sorry this is the law.

Kittens or puppies under 8 weeks can only be advertised if the mother`s microchip number is stated.

Anyone wishing to advertise for rehoming is strongly advised to make thorough home checks before placing animals.

This will not affect our SPA animals as they are under a recognised association.

We would be happy to publish your rehoming adverts on our web page

A letter of thanks posted on Rainbow's FB page recently, this sort of response makes our hard work so worthwhile. See below.

"I just would like to offer my thanks to Rainbow for donating to Help two Dobermanns who needed to be taken out of a kill situation after being dumped by their owners. It was a very sad situation as the owners had previously rescued them and then did this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. xxx"

Pictured here is Rainbow's Treasurer, Stella presenting a donation cheque to Mike and Leeanne at Twilight.  These wonderful people are Ma and Pa to 30+ elderly dogs, many of them had been abused or abandoned and desperately needed somewhere warm and loving to end their days.  Mike and Leeanne work tirelessly to make their 'guests' comfortable, well fed and most importantly, smothered with unconditional love.  The Rainbow Association are honoured and humbled to be able to help these incredible people.

Wednesday, 5 October 2016

On October 4th Linda Burns and Andrew Bryan presented a cheque to Lydia Bourdeau who runs Centre de Soins de la Faune Sauvage Poitevine which is a wildlife animal rescue centre.  She does a wonderful job by rescuing and taking in abandoned or injured wild animals. The cheque is being presented by Andrew Bryan from the Rainbow Association to Lydia. Whilst there we saw just some of the animals she is caring for which includes Deer, Hedgehogs, Rabbits, Swans, Owls, Buzzards, other Birds of Prey, Rabbits and many more. Lydia can be seen holding a baby Squirrel.

Rainbow goes from strength to strength. The shop is doing better and better which enables us to make more donations to those who need it. We have already helped many animal associations and some individuals which has really made a difference. We could not do it without the wonderful support we get from our customers and the great and wonderful help we receive from our team of volunteers.

A big thank you to you all.

TWO CATS MISSING FROM HOME IN BUSSIERE POITEVINE. 87

The older cat about 2 and a half years old and has been spayed and chipped. The other one is 2 years old and has been spayed. Both are grey tabby cats. The older one is bigger and has a lot darker grey on his back and very soft fur. They were last seen in owners garden at Bussiere Poitevine.. The young one went first, then about a week later the older one went, and we think he went looking for the young one as they were very good friends.  Please check your sheds, garages and outbuildings just in case they could be trapped somewhere.  Any sightings please contact Jean Marlow at jeanmarlow45@yahoo.com    Many thanks.

Rainbow were very pleased to be able to make a donation to Association Cats today.  In the photograph is our Secretary, Shirley Yeates  presenting the donation cheque to The founder and President of Association Cats, Sally Moss.  Sally works hard in capturing and sterilising feral cats to prevent 100's of kittens being born in the future.

Great News!  Colt, the large hound in the photo below, who came with the girls and two other dogs from Limoges SPA yesterday (Wednesday 7th September), was adopted last night. He really deserves a good home and thank you so much for the people who adopted him.
Some of the volunteers at the shop yesterday, working in extreme heat and still smiling!

We presented a donation cheque to the SPA Limoges, this money will help the many animals in their care, three of the dogs you will see in the photo came to see us on one of their day trips to the shop.  These trips out for the dogs raise awareness and also hopefully result in some of them eventually going to their 'forever homes' and they absolutely love it.

This lovely boy is called Moody - though he is not moody at all. Moody is one of the lucky dogs we are bringing to the shop on Wednesday 7th September, along with 3 other dogs from the SPA Limoges.

Please come along and say hello and give them a cuddle as this will probably be the only day they have had out of their cages since they arrived at the refuge.

If you or anyone you know is thinking of adopting a dog this is your chance!

Due to all of you fantastic customers continuing support we have been able to make donations last month to the following:-

 SPA Limoges
Chats de L'Isle
Les Amie's des Chats
Horse Rescue Bellac, saving horses and ponies from going to the butcher.

Diane is a needy old dog that cannot be rehomed, so Rainbow have donated towards the costs of her stay in a pension where she can rest her weary old bones in comfort.  See her picture.

Thankyou everyone from all of these animals who can't thank you themselves. You really make a difference to their lives.

Don't forget please we always need good quality items to sell in our shop. Spread the word, this is your local charity.

Volunteers and cake bakers always welcome.

Already, many animals are enjoying life in a loving home helped by Rainbow.

The Rainbow Association from being formed in May 2016 has gone from strength to strength. There are some wonderful volunteers without whom it would not be possible to raise much needed funds and everyone really enjoys working for and with Rainbow.

If you get on well with other people, enjoy working as a team, can spare some time every Wednesday and the first Saturday of each month, why not come and join us?
